Cisco Phone: E911 (Panic) Button

The Cisco 9851 phone has a RED E911 button located at the top right of the physical phone. When pressed, it automatically connects you to On Campus Police Dispatch aka 58911, If you press by accident it has a delay of 5 secs when a cancel button can be pressed.

How to Use the E911 Button

  1. Locate the E911 Button:
    On your Cisco 9851 phone, look for the RED E911 button. It is located on the top right corner of your phone. Number 3 as noted in the picture below.

  1. In Case of Emergency:
    If you are in an emergency situation and need to contact Campus Police

    • Press the E911 Button once.
      • There is a 5 second delay before it connects. If you have pressed the button by accident click the cancel button before it connects.
    • The phone will automatically dial the Campus Police (58911) and send your location details to the dispatcher.
  2. Stay Calm and Provide Information:

    • Once the call connects, speak clearly and provide any additional details the dispatcher may need (e.g., nature of the emergency, confirm your location).
    • The location information from your phone may already be sent, but providing your exact address and situation will help first responders.

Important Notes

  • The E911 button is intended for emergency use only. Do not press it unless you are in a real emergency.
  • Do not hang up the phone until the emergency dispatcher instructs you to do so.
