Can I opt out of getting a desk/physical phone?

No. Everyone is required to have a phone for E911 capabilities.

Can I still call people using Microsoft Teams?

You can use the Teams call features. See What's happening with Microsoft Teams? for more information.

Will my phone number change?

No. Your phone number will stay the same.

What's happening with Microsoft Teams?

Microsoft Teams is not changing. However, Teams Voice will be going away.

This means

  • you will no longer see the work number in Teams
  • your voicemail will be accessed through Cisco
  • when calling external users you will now use your Cisco device
