Update Course Section Student Participation Date Range

Canvas section start-date end-date

Course access to a course in Canvas is based on the start and end dates specified in Colleague. Although the course remains visible, it is in "Read Only" mode for 30 days after it ends. Instructors may update course and section dates to allow students the option to submit work a few days before the start date or few days after the end date.

Steps To Implement

Navigate to the ‘Settings’ link in the Course menu.
Once on the ‘Course Details’ page, click on the ‘Sections’ tab.
- Ensure that the 'Restrict students from viewing course after course end date' option is not selected
On the ‘Sections’ tab, click on the course section link.
Click on the ‘Edit Section’ button.
Update the Section details including the check box that says, ’Students can only participate in the course between these dates’.
Then Click ‘Update Section’.
