MS Teams Voice: E911 for Dynamic Locations

In this article

Guide Topic

Microsoft Teams Voice is a software phone that can be used in any given location. This can create an issue when dialing 911 because the 911 Dispatchers will not know your exact location. Microsoft Teams Voice client solves this issue by trying to dynamically locate (first) or by letting the user define their current location (second). It is VITALITY IMPORTANT for a user to determine their location every time they relocate for their personal safety and make sure it is correct.

How does it work?

The Microsoft Teams client will try to dynamically locate your 911 dispatchable location by receiving administrator defined data via the network first. If this is not available, it will try and use location services from the device second. Lastly, if no location is detected the user can define their current location. This defined information will be passed to the 911 Dispatchers for the appropriate Emergency Services Response Team.

**Important**

The user must remain on the Calls tab for at least 5 minutes for the information to populate.

Microsoft Teams Web Version does not support dynamic location and user MUST add their location.
