  • What is Microsoft Team’s Voice?

It is the service that provides inbound and outbound calling to the global telecom network. You would use this to call a student’s cell phone or receive/make TCCD business related phone calls to external numbers.

  • Will Microsoft Team’s Voice work offsite?

Yes! It is designed to work on campus or offsite. This enables you to be highly mobile and receive business phone calls on the go.

  • Will I get to keep my desk phone?

No. Desk phones will be removed, and the Microsoft Team’s application will be used for all communications. It combines services such as telephone calling, video conferencing, audio conferencing, chat, file sharing etc. into one easy to use interface. This enhancement will also provide TCCD’s employees the ability to be highly mobile as the District’s needs change.

  • Will I get to keep my individual phone number?

Yes! The way businesses communicate has changed and you need the ability to be highly mobile to quickly adapt. TCCD employees will no longer have to keep their assigned phone numbers on each campus as you will be able to take your phone number to any campus. The one exception is main department numbers will remain in place.

  • What is an individual phone number?

A phone number that is used to contact one person or appointed to a specific person. It is often used exclusively by one individual when making or answering calls. Normally, this category fits majority of faculty and staff. It is very similar to your cellular phone number. It goes where you go.

  • What is a main department phone number?

A phone number that is used to contact the entire department, shared by several people, or answered by multiple people. It can also be a number that is listed on the website to contact anyone in a specific department.

  • What telephone features does Microsoft Team’s Voice support?

Microsoft Team’s supports full standard telephone functions such as, caller id, call forwarding, call transfer, caller on hold, conferencing and more!

  • Is there voicemail in Microsoft Team’s Voice?

Yes! It is created by default when your account is created and is accessed through the Microsoft Teams Voice application.

  • Will Microsoft Team’s Voice work on my personal cellphone?

Yes! Download the Microsoft Teams application through your app store and it should function the same way the desktop version does.

  • Does Microsoft Team’s Voice support multiple line appearances?

No, there are other features that will cover these types of scenarios. Microsoft Team’s Voice is associated to an individual user and phone number.

  • Will a “9” be needed for dialing an outside phone number?

No. Microsoft Team’s Voice will need the full dial string for calling local, long distance, or international calling. This means you will use the same dialing method as if using your own personal cell phone.

  • How do I call another campus?

You would dial the full 10 digits of the number they are calling. Short extension calling is not supported in Microsoft Team’s Voice. Example: Dial 8175158223 instead of 58223.

  • Is there extension dialing in Microsoft Team’s Voice?

No. Extension dialing has been replaced with dial by name. You would look up the person you would like to call and click their name to call or dial the full 10-digit phone number. Click to dial is much faster than even the five-digit dialing previously used.
