Canvas: Labflow - Instructor's Guide

Labflow is a STEM education platform for laboratory instruction.

Learn how to add the Labflow application link to any course that has the application registered.

Steps to Implement

  1. Go to your course, from the Course Menu, click on Modules

  1. Click "+ Modules" button to create a new Module.

  1. Enter the Module Name and click on “Add Module” button.

  1. Publish the Module by clicking on the empty Circle and choosing either “Publish module and all items” or “Publish module only”.

  1. Add and Item to the module by clicking the “+” button.

  1. A window will open, click the drop down on “Add” and select “External tool”.

  1. Scroll down, look for “Labflow App” and select it.

  1. Scroll down, check the “Load in a new tab” check box and click the “Add Item” button.

  1. Be sure that both Module and link Item are published.

  1. Open the link to Labflow App, by clicking on it.

  1. A window will open, click on the “Load Labflow App in a new window” button.

  1. The Labflow App will launch in a new tab and prompt you to select which course to link to. Often an instructor will have multiple active Labflow courses that they are associated with. Identify the correct course in the list and click to link. Proceed to the terms of use agreement and select “Yes”.

  1. You should be navigated to the final LTI setup page. If you are linking Labflow to your Canvas course for the first time you should see a page that looks like this window, click the “Continue” button to complete the linking process and be taken to the Labflow course page.

  1. The listed assignments should now populate the Assignments page in your Canvas course. Once you have completed the linking process and are on the Labflow course page, your course is fully linked.

  1. You can always adjust the link status of specific activities or link new ones by navigating to the “LTI Management” page.

  1. From the “LTI Management” page, you can see your linked courses and link/unlink them, by clicking the “Courses” tab.

  1. Use the “Activity Linking” tab to adjust the activity links.

  1. ① Select the correct LMS course from the drop down list. ② Select all, or individual activities to link/unlink. ③ Click “Link” to link the selected activities or “Remove” to unlink and remove them from your canvas course.

  1. When the “Link/Unlink” process has completed you will see a message, like this:
