Question
How do I change or update my password online?
Update Your Password
Update through Self Service Password Reset (SSPR)
TCC students can now reset their own password or unlock your account by yourself if you use self-service password reset (SSPR). Before you can use this functionality, you have to register your authentication methods or confirm the predefined authentication methods that your administrator has populated (See below for instructions setting these up).
- Log in to the SSPR Setup page
- Select Change Password
- Enter your Old (current) password, Create new password, Confirm new password
- Click Submit
Update through Outlook
- Open your Outlook Client, or visit Office.com
- Sign in with your current password
- Click your profile icon (picture or initials) in the upper-right corner
- Click My Account
- Click Password on the left-hand side
- Input your old password and your new password
Note: it may take up to 30 minutes for your new password to sync
Enrolling in SSPR
- When on campus, log in to the computer using your TCCD credentials
- If you are not on campus, begin with Step 2
- Visit the SSPR Setup page
- Log in with your TCCD credentials
- Provide and verify required authentication information
- If more than one option is available, it's recommended to register multiple methods. This gives you flexibility when one of the methods is not available. For example, if you only setup your phone to authenticate, and you lose your phone, there is no way to get into your account
- Option 1 (on this page) - Authentication Phone: Set this option to another phone number that you have access to. An example is a cell phone that can receive a text or a call
- Option 2 (on this page) - Authentication Email: Set this option to an alternate email address that you can access without using the password you want to reset
- Option 3 (on this page) - Security Questions: Your administrator has approved this list of questions for you to answer. You can't use the same question or answer more than once
- Select Finish. You can now use SSPR as needed in the future
Option 1 – Authentication Phone
Phone verification can be completed for registration and then later for actual password reset either receiving a text message or a phone call. For the password reset it does not matter if the registration was done via text message or phone call.
When to use text message?
Text message are typically received in the U.S. within 1 minute. In other countries it can take much longer, or you don’t receive the text at all. You are required to type in the 6-digit verification code. Standard text message rates apply. Check with your service provider to confirm additional costs.
- Type the 6-digit text code
- Select Verify
- If successful, you will be returned to the initial setup screen
When to use phone call?
For phone call verification, you do not have to type in a verification code; instead press pound key (#). This may be more convenience over the text message method. Standard rates apply. Check with your service provider to confirm additional costs.
- Answer your phone
- When prompted on the phone, hit the # key
- If successful, you will be returned to the initial setup screen
Option 2 - Alternative Email
- Select the Set it up now link next to “Authentication Email…”
- Enter an email address other than your TCCD email account
- Select Email me
- Get the verification code from your email account, and enter in the verification field
- Select Verify
- You have now completed the email verification
Option 3 - Security Questions
- Select the Set them up now link next to “Security Questions…”
- Choose five questions and provide answers
- After completing all questions, select Save answers
Setup Complete
Once you have completed your choice of settings, select Finish to continue to other applications. It is important to complete this step, or your changes will be lost.
Note: You may be prompted for your password again after you select Finish.
