If in Additional Settings you selected the option to Award maximum points on review within the PeerMark assignment settings, then every completed review by a student will be awarded 10 points. A completed review is when all the questions an instructor has added to the review have been answered. Once the due date has passed for the PeerMark assignment, the student’s total grade for the assignment will be available for the instructor to view.

Additional grading information

  • Paper submission grades sync with Canvas Gradebook automatically upon the PeerMark assignment’s Feedback Release Date.
  • Peer Feedback grades don’t automatically sync with Canvas Gradebook. If peer feedback grades need to be posted in Canvas, a separate column on the Gradebook must be created to enter grades manually.
  • The total score for all reviews for a reviewer will be normalized to the point value that was selected for the PeerMark assignment during assignment creation. This is true whether the Award maximum points on review is set to Yes or No.

Example 1 - If Award maximum points on review is set to No there are a total of three reviews in the review set for the PeerMark assignment and the point value is 100.

  • Review 1 -- The instructor gives the review a 9
  • Review 2 -- The instructor gives the review a 10
  • Review 3 -- The reviewer did not start the review

The total score for all the reviews would be 19 (9+10+0=19) out of the total possible points of 30 19 out of 30 = 0.633. Normalizing the 63% to the PeerMark point value of 100 would be: 0.633 * 100 = 63.3, rounded to 53 points out of 100.

Example 2 - If Award maximum points on review is set to Yes, there are four questions to be answered in the review and there are a total of 3 reviews in the review set for the PeerMark assignment. The point value for the PeerMark assignment is 100.

  • Review 1 -- The reviewer entered content for all four questions, but one is considered “unanswered” because it does not meet the minimum length requirement. The score for this review is 0.
  • Review 2 -- The reviewer answered all four questions. The score for this review is 10.
  • Review 3 -- The reviewer did not start the review. The score for this review is 0.

The total score for all the reviews would be 10 (0+10+0=10) out of the total possible points of 30. 10 out of 30 = 0.33. Normalizing the 33% to the PeerMark point value of 100 would be: 0.33 * 100 = 33 points out of 100.
